What I like about Gil’s garage (Family operated) is they get the job done with a lot of integrity; if something isn't 💯 % right they will fix it and work with you to get better. I can always trust them with my auto repairs, because they don’t use chintzy parts and they’re going to give you good advice. They are willing to make adjustments afterwards too if it didn’t go exactly perfect. I have gone to this garage for a long time and all the cars parked in the parking lot waiting to get fixed is a testament to how many people want to go there.👍👍👍👍👍

Got a coupon in the mail for an oil change for 69$. Made an appointment over the phone and was told that due to my vehicle type it would be a little bit more $ for the oil but they would throw in a free tire rotation. I arrived 15 mins before my appointment, they took the car in 10 mins after my appointment time then I waited for 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation ( as someone with a background as a mechanic , that is along time for just that ). Once it was done they charged me double what the coupon they sent me said (which she did tell me it would be a "little" more but not double) then charged me for the tire rotation aswell. So a 69$ oil change coupon turned into about 200$. Once I brought up the tire rotation being added they did remove it with no questions saying they forgot to remove it from the bill. Staff was very very friendly, place was clean and busy. I left 3 stars due to my overall experience being pretty neutral and on par with your typical auto shop. Check your bill and dont be afraid to ask questions!

Pricing has started to increase drastically, and the quality of the parts provided don't match the cost. I always get good service though, and glad to support a small business over a corporation. Definitely would like to see quality increase with price.

Brought car on for oil change and inspection having been forewarned that I may need brakes this time. Thankfully, they're honest and fair and said my brakes are still good. I always appreciate that they give heads up about possible upcoming maintenance needs. Never take my car anywhere else.

I send a huge ThankYou to Gils Garage! Low tire indicator tripped with numbers all over the place. My vehicle was recently at the dealership for a tire rotation and oil change. Thought that would have been checked and adjusted to cold temperature setting. I guess that was one other thing that day Lia missed!! Gil’s took me right in! They’re so nice, remembered me from a visit years ago and I was in and out! And my tires are set correctly!! If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have! You’re exceptional in my book! And you have been each time I needed you. Happy Holidays!! 🙂

I found Gils about 40 years ago & have watched it grow from a small service station to the modern, full service car repair station that I trust fully. Gil's family and the very knowledgable & professional staff operate efficiently but personably when you call for an appointment or advice to giving detailed information when the work is complete. Having moved from Glenville to Schenectady 15 years ago I drive by dozens of their competitors to have my beloved 13 year old Mini Cooper impeccably cared for! Thank you Gils for maintaing your excellence in an age of compromise!

Great experience at a great price. I needed new tires mounted and a NYS inspection. They were able to get me in quick and gave me no hassle by providing my own tires.
The attention to detail by the tech who work on my vehicle is impressive. The inspection and registration stickers are perfectly parallel to each other and the valve stems on all four tires are aligned to the same spot on each tire. That may seem silly to some, but that kind of detail says a lot about the people Gils employs.

I've had several experiences with Gil's Garage where they had the opportunity to charge me for expensive repairs but instead they found less expensive options. Most recently my 2014 VW Jetta heat stopped working. After evaluating the system they told me the heating core was clogged. They were able to flush the core versus replacing it. This saved me about $700. I trust them completely to give me the best/least expensive option, and fully explain the options, when one exists.

Gil’s garage is a place you can take your vehicle for repairs and get honest, trustworthy recommendations of work needed to your vehicle to bring it back to manufacturer’s specifications. You will get a knowledgeable person on the phone when you call to schedule an appointment or ask questions about your vehicle needing repair. My family has trusted Gil’s with our vehicles for nearly 60 years, and we have third generation family members who have put their trust in the Gil’s team for their repairs as well. Gil’s is “The Best of the Best” in the Times Union for good reason.

On Wednesday afternoon, I attempted to start my car.. nothing happened. I made 2 calls. First one to my brother who brought his charger and charged the battery. The next was to Gil's to get an appointment to get a new battery. They were great, got me in on Thursday morning. My brother followed me to Gil's, just in case. An hour later they called me.. I could pick up my car, she's fixed and ready to go. I was so grateful to these guys. This was the second time I had been to Gil's for service. Being relatively new to the area i know I have found the mechanics I can trust. Just like the mechanics I had in my old home town. Gil's Garage of Halfmoon, is definitely my go to guys, I go to for all car repairs.

Gil’s garage offers great customer service and quality work. Many of my friends go here so I decided to give it a shot when my car was feeling weaker. I got a tune up, at a fair price, and my car feels great. Will definitely be coming back for future repairs.

Great experience! Gil’s did a very complicated repair of my Cars gas tank. They took it all apart, replaced the fuel pump and put it back together perfectly sealed. Their never say die attitude saved me $1000 compared to the dealership estimated. On top of all that they are nice people!

Today and for many decades Gil's affirms why I'm a loyal customer. A new employee named Jessica helped me to get my car checked immediately. As a senior, I was very concerned when two alerts where on my dashboard. It turned out to be a minor issue, but the peace of mind made it very valuable!
